dietrich bonhoeffer

Has anyone read The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer? I have owned the book for a couple years now, and keep meaning to read it, but its not one of those (at least for me) that is easy to pick up and read front to back. I feel like it's loaded with good things to think about.

One time our bible study casted lots to see what we should study next, and picked it, and then changed our minds. Mandy and Neile would be horrified that I shared that with blog world. Sorry. Neile told us casting lots wasn't good. :)

Anyway, I decided to go for it solo. I'm going to finally read it. I have read the first chapter twice so far, and realized how much I missed while going through the second time, so this might be a long process.

Anyway, if you have read it, leave a comment about your thoughts on it, I really like to discuss books like this with someone while reading it. Once I read Power Through Prayer while I was on Summer Staff and couldn't find anyone to discuss it with and it was sad.

Today was a gorgeous day by the way. It was pretty great too. I woke up early, read, did wii fit, went to lunch with friends at a habachi grill, hung out with high school girls, read outside a lot (i might be a little burnt), ran at the arboretum (well, mostly walked...lets be honest) and took pictures by the lake with the sun setting. Can't complain. I hope you all have a good weekend! I'll be at work taking care of the kiddos! :)

  1. I haven't read The Cost of Discipleship, but i have read Life Together by Bonhoeffer. It was an intense read too. It's only a little over 100 pages and I really had to take my time b/c it was so full of good stuff. Good luck with this book. Let me know how it goes!

  2. Jade -- I also was inspired by Life Together.

Jenna -- I'd be interested to read this book, too. Also, is that the lake we drove by on New Circle? You are getting so good with your fancy camera!
